L’Atelier di Filomena: A Thread of History and Passion
In the warm light of Naples, in a modest living room scented with coffee and sea air, a young woman named Filomena threaded her first needle in 1960. What began as a simple gesture became the beginning of a family legacy, shaped by patience, devotion, and a profound respect for the art of embroidery.
To Filomena, embroidery was never mere decoration. It was a language. Delicate floral motifs transformed fine linens, monograms became personal signatures, and every creation carried the quiet elegance of Neapolitan tradition.
Before long, her work found its way into some of Naples’ most distinguished homes, where families commissioned bespoke pieces to celebrate weddings, enrich family trousseaux, and create heirlooms destined to be passed from one generation to the next.
Tuscany: Where Passion Took Root
In the 1970s, life brought Filomena north to Carrara, a land where craftsmanship has been celebrated for centuries. There, surrounded by artisans devoted to excellence, she found the ideal place to deepen her own craft.
In the nearby village of Ceparana, between Tuscany and Liguria, she opened her first true Atelier — a quiet workshop dedicated entirely to exceptional embroidery.
Her reputation soon extended beyond private homes. Interior designers, Italian ateliers, and discerning clients recognised in her work something increasingly rare: craftsmanship guided as much by instinct as by technique.
A Craft Passed Down, Thread by Thread
As demand grew, Filomena welcomed young artisans into her workshop, passing on the techniques and values she had inherited herself.
This has always been the true luxury of the Atelier: not simply the beauty of every stitch, but the preservation of knowledge that cannot be rushed, replicated, or replaced.
In the years that followed, this expertise naturally led to collaborations with prestigious fashion and interior ateliers, where handcrafted embroidery remained a mark of distinction.

More than sixty years later, Filomena’s Atelier has become a distinguished atelier of Italian embroidery, recognised for its uncompromising craftsmanship and the refinement of its creations.
Its philosophy, however, remains unchanged. Every creation is conceived with the same respect for time, material, and craftsmanship that defined Filomena’s earliest work.
The Atelier now collaborates with designers, architects, and private clients worldwide, creating bespoke textiles for exceptional residences, luxury yachts, distinguished hotels, and private aviation. Every commission begins with a conversation and is crafted exclusively for the people who will live with it.
From the graceful drape of a Gino curtain to the final hand-finished stitch, every detail reflects decades of mastery.
